Foundation. I find it always seems to be a topic of controversy from those who never wear it all the way through to those who adore to the ‘cakey’ effect. Personally it doesn’t bother me how people wear their makeup, after all it’s supposed to be fun isn’t it?! Below I’m going to be sharing my top 3 ways to apply foundation…

This is hands down one of my favourite ways to apply foundation, it’s super quick, easy and leaves you with an even application. Here’s how I like to apply my foundation with a Kabuki Brush:

  • Apply small amount of foundation to a palette or back of clean hand.
  • Lightly bound the flat top into the foundation until there is an even coverage of foundation on the brush.
  • Dot the foundation onto the face in areas where you need coverage.
  • Blend in small circular motions until the foundation melts seamlessly into the skin.
  • Set with a powder or spray of our choice.

Beauty Blender  < The Ol’ Original

We’ve all seen them, we know what they are but they have become a staple for so many people! Personally I love them for when I need a light coverage but if you like a full coverage look I’d stay near from these babies as the moisture in the sponge thins that foundation. Here’s how to apply using a beauty blender:

  • Apply small amount of foundation to a palette or back of clean hand.
  • Pick up the foundation with the base of the beauty blender and dot onto the areas where you need coverage.
  • Continue to bounce and roll (never drag) the beauty blender lightly over the skin until the product blend into the rest of the skin.
  • Set with a powder or spray of your choice.

Finger Tips!

Ok so I know this may sound controversial coming from me as Im always banging on about contamination through makeup and application but if your hands are clean there’s no problem! Finger tips are such a great tool to use and sometimes it’s the easiest way to apply…

  • Ensure hands are clean and free of oil.
  • Apply small amount of foundation to a palette or back of clean hand.
  • Pick up a small amount of foundation with your ring finger and dot onto areas that need coverage.
  • Lightly glide your finger tips over the skin and pat the product into the skin until the product disappears.
  • To fix use a big powder brush or powder puff to PUSH the powder into the skin to set, this ensure’s that any natural oil that may of been on your finger tips is absorbed and doesn’t disrupt your foundation.
